FYI
Dear LBLA Members & Friends,
Recently, a letter was received by the abutters of the Lower Beverley Lake Park. We believe that the Park potentially impacts not only the abtters but all those who use the lake and felt that we should pass this information on to all those we have email addresses for. While we believe that the septic system changes they are proposing are a positive step, there are concerns that have been raised by other cottagers. The system proposed has the ability to handle the waste of the park at its current size but some are concerned that growth after the system is in would be a simple thing. In conversations with William Morris, we were told he has no plans to expand the size of the park. However, if this, or other aspects of the proposal, are concerns of yours, we would recommend you take this opportunity to respond with your concerns or questions. These can be sent by mail, by email (bevlake@ripnet.com), or by hand to William Morris at the park and must be received by Friday, August 6th, 2010.
Sincerely,
The LBLA Executive Board
Below is a transcription of the letter received:
Lower Beverley Lake Park is located along the northeast shore of Lower Beverley Lake and the northwest shore of Delta Creek. The park is a multi-use seasonal campsite operating from May to October. It contains 235 sites (215 serviced and 20 non-serviced field sites), 8 cottages, a canteen, 2 service centres/Laundromats, a fish shack, a registration house and one year round dwelling for the caretaker. The Park is currently serviced by multiple class 4 (septic tank and tile bed) and class 5 (holding tank) on-site sewage disposal systems.
The Township is proposing to add an additional service station to the Park facilities and therefore additional on-site sewage disposal system will be required. Please note that the Township has no plans to expand the number of sites at this time. The existing on-site sewage systems vary in composition and age and therefore a sitable replacement strategy also needs to be established. This project is being planned as Schedule ‘B’ undertakings following the requirements of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment.
For further information on these projects, to review the project file or to inspect a copy of the Options Report and the Class Environmental Assessment document, please contact William Morris, A.M.C.T. Park Manager, Lower Beverley Lake Park Management Board, Township of Rideau Lakes, 146 Lower Beverley Lake Park Road, P.O. Box 130, Delta, Ontario, K0E 1G0, Tel: (613) 928-2881 or fax: (613) 928-2073. Please note that an Options Report has been prepared in accordance with the Municipal Class EA and is on file at the Township office. This file will be updated as the project progresses.
Public input and comment are invited for incorporation into the planning and design of these projects, and will be received until Friday, August 6th, 2010. Subject to comments received and the receipt of the necessary approvals, the Township of Rideau Lakes intends to proceed with the planning, design and construction of this project.
